Front Page Love...

...and it's about time!

Having spent a great deal of time on the 'behind-the-scenes' stuff, to make sure that the schedules are displaying properly and the ADs can update them, I finally got around to giving the Front Page some attention.

In the future, right here in this exact spot, you will find featured articles. They may be about one game, or a sport, maybe a school, or even an athlete or coach. Whatever I feel deserves the spotlight.

Below the advertisement you will find news about updates and enhancements to the site. Whenever something new and exciting is added, you will find it there.

In the middle column, under the new 'Game Summaries' heading, you will find game summaries. Just click on a sport name to see the latest game summary for that sport. All previous articles will still be found on the appropriate 'Sport' page, as well as the 'School' pages of those teams that participated.

    Newburyport @ Rockport

    April 29, 2015

If you could choose, would you rather throw a no-hitter or strike out 17 batters in a 7 inning game? Each is an outstanding accomplishment. On Tuesday at Rockport, Newburyport junior Scott Webster didn't have to make the choice. He did them both. Oh, and he also hit a home-run for good measure as the Clippers got back into the win column with a 2-0 victory over the Vikings.

    Amesbury @ Newburyport

    May 6, 2015

That’s nine straight for the 2015 edition of Amesbury Indians softball.

Coach Chris Perry’s team hasn’t lost since June 8th of 2014 when they were defeated by St. Mary’s (Lynn) 8-5 in the Division 3 North title game at Lowell.

In Monday afternoon’s 5-2 win over Newburyport, the Indians again had strong pitching by Hayley Catania. The freshman took a no-hitter into the final inning and allowed only two walks.

    Ipswich @ Georgetown

    April 29, 2015

Ipswich improved to 3-0 in league play as they defeated Georgetown on the road, 20-6. Joanna Perry had a huge day for the Tigers, scoring 6 goals and collecting 4 assists. On the other side, Georgetown captain Graceann Conte notched 4 goals of her own, continuing her strong play as the Royals battle through injuries.

Ipswich played a strong game both offensively and defensively, transitioning smoothly from one end of the field to the other. Brooke Robishaw (1g, 2a) stood out during transitions, making smart decisions in getting her team back on offense. Julia Glavin (3g) controlled the midfield and Ellie Swenson netted 4 goals and picked up 3 assists. Sophomore Emma Moulton gave a glimpse into the Tigers' future as she scored a well executed crease roll.

The Royals continue to work on improving their game at both ends of the field. Sophomore defender Haley Melvin stepped up her game, making 3 great interceptions to prevent several more Ipswich goals.

Ipswich (3-0 CAL, 3-2 overall) travels to Manchester-Essex on Thursday, while Georgetown (0-5, 2-7) hosts Malden this afternoon at 3:45.
