Girls Volleyball: Beverly Downs Saugus

Beverly defeated Saugus today in three sets, 25-9, 25-10 & 25-17. Sophomore Ella Spiedel made her varsity debut and had five kills for the Panthers. Senior captain Maddy Cassidy had seven aces on serve and senior captain Sydney Wiley had 5.  

The victory pushes Beverly over .500 with a 5-4 record, and the Panthers will look to win two in a row on Friday when they host Winthrop. Saugus is off until next Tuesday, when they will host Somerville in a special Breast Cancer Awareness Game.

Girls Volleyball: Beverly Defeats Salem

Beverly improved to 3-1 on the season with a road victory at Salem, defeating the Witches 3-1.  Marianna Ellis lead the team in service aces, with 5, while Katie Noonan had 3 and Kate Mulligan served 100% from the line. Maddy Cassidy had 10 kills and Delaney Sprague and Kate Mulligan had 4 each.

The Panthers also had some players see their first varsity action. Being called up were setter Avery Barror, libero Sophie McGarigal, middle Claire Knott, and DS Ellie Brown.

Beverly Coach Pam Padovani was happy with the way her team played, saying " All in all it was a great team effort with good communication and energy!"
