Boys Cross Country: Tigers Sweep

The Ipswich boys got off to a great start, winning both match-ups in their opening meet at North Reading's Harold Parker State Forest course on Wednesday. The Tigers defeated Georgetown 21-39 and the host Hornets 23-32. Junior captain Jack DeMarco led the way, winning the race in a time of 16:46.

Helping secure the victories were juniors Luke Dione (17:18) and Dmitri Angell (17:20) who grabbed the third and fourth places in both races. Jonah Orrah, captains Liam Russell and Zach Forni, and freshman Finn Russell rounded out the scoring for Ipswich.

"Jack DeMarco had a strong lead almost from the start," said coach Sue Markos. "Great performances from Luke Dione and Dmitri Angell to finish in the Top 5 overall in both meets. Impressive first meet for freshmen Finn Russell and Paul Wertz, who finished 10th overall for Ipswich. Very impressive turnout for the 1st meet of the season on a hot course."
